Third Steamtest Saturday 12 May 2012
Preperations were made to the roller beforehand, The initial thought for the Squeal was the piston rod gland packing, But after this was re-packed the squeal was still present in steamtest 2.
After examination while on steamtest 2 we found that it was squealing from behind the trunk guides on the high pressure cylinder, The trunk guide was slid back and re-sealed.
When this test took place we were releaved to have fixed the squeal from the last 2 tests. Now another hiccup was the saftey valves lifted too early. We have in princable (and subject to bolier inspection)
been given permission to have the engine run with a top pressure of 200psi, (David last top pressure in the 1960's was 150psi) but the valves were lifting at approx 170psi, so we need them adjusting.
Over all this test was very much succsessful.
Heres Jon at the controls
Running a lot smoother now
